5.) Mother says to a boy to bring 9 marble from the market. But boy can bring only 2 marble at a time. Can you say how many trip to market the boy had to go to bring 9 marbles. (5)



6.) One fish tank is half full. After adding 10 gallons the tank is 7/8 of the tank. Calculate the capacity of the fish tank.(26.66)



7.) Mr. X, Mr. Y, Mr. Z collect Rs. 1,00,000 in the ratio of 2:3:5. Can U say how much extra money is given by Mr. Z than Mr. X? (30,000)



8.) One boy is having some coins and after adding 10z coin the boy is now having (5y-1) times of the coin he had at the beginning. Calculate the coins the boy had initially in terms of y & z. (2z/y)



9.) A shopkeeper gives a discount of 20% on the sale. By what percent he had to increase the S.P of the item so that after giving discount he got the price of the its C.P.



10.) A man holds 13th position from the first and 13th position from the last. How many participant were there in the completion. (25)



11.) A fashion designer and sold it to retailer at the profit of 40% and retailer sold it customer at a profit of 25%.Can u say how much extra money paid by the customer from the cost manufacturing. Calculate the price in percentage.



12.) A taxi driver charges 1.75$ for first quarter of mile and then charges 15 cents for each quarter. How much distance can be covered in 4.9$. (5.4 mile)



13.) Out of 170 baseball player 95 were right handed. Can u calculate the percent of players who were not right handed.



14.) 8 eggs were identical except one is lighter. How many times we have to weight to find out to find out the lighter. (3)



15.) Out of 35 students if the ratio of the girls to boys is 4:3. Then by what number the girls are more than boys. (5)

I am placed in iGate, held on 9th September,06 in Rajalakshmi Engineering college.
I am doing my Final year IT, i have benefited much from this site, and i like to contribute myself by giving the information i have experienced.

The selection procedure is,

1.Aptitude Test
2.GD
3.Technical and HR interview

Aptitude Test:

15 question no choices, no worksheet will be provided,no negative marks, u have to work in the space provided in the question paper
some topics are Time and Distance, Probability, Problems on numbers, Average, Age, Profit and Loss and some other topics in RS Agarwal.. that is enough

GD: The topic i recieved is "TRAFFIC", the GD was about 20 minutes, There were about 10 students in one GD and 5 of them got selected, the HR asked everyone to tell their views about the topic and then started the discussion. I have talked a few times only but at appropriate time, Just tell ur points that is enough, avoid unnecessary arguments. Just talk and dont be mum.
When the HR itself ask u to talk(during first few minutes), make use of that opportunity, in a GD we have to grab our chance, so when the chance comes make the best use of it.

Techinical and HR interview:

There were only 2 HR questions for me
1.Tell me about ur self
2.How u will be in iGate after 5 years

The remaining were only Technical questions, there were some question on
DBMS and some SQL queries
Java(Basics) and other Programming Languages
Be Honest, if u dont know about some topics admit that u dont know
for all IT students it is a must that u will be asked questions on DBMS and SQL queries.
I have presented a paper and i have put that in my resume, so he asked about that paper also,if u have something like that please know everything in ur paper, this will also help u to divert the HR to a place where ur strong, Best of Luck .

Some questions that i Remeber, i have put here

1. A goat is trying to climb a cliff of 60feet high, for a minute it climbs 3minutes up and slips 2feet at what time will it reach the top of the cliff?
Ans: At 58th Minute.

2. The sum of two numbers is 10 and the product of the two numbers is 20 what is the sum of the reciprocals of the two numbers?
Ans: 1/2
Let 2 numbers be x and Y
1/x + 1/Y = (x+y)/xy=10/20=1/2(ans)

3. A train is coming at some speed and the other train is coming in opposite direction with some other speed, a bird is flying in between the trains touching each end and the bird is also flying at some speed, what is the distance covered by the bird, when both trains meet each other?( I have forgetted the data )

4. A man has two children and atleast 1 girl child, what is the probability that both his children are girls?

5. A profit and Loss problem where the gain percentage with respect to Selling price is given we have to calculate the gain percentage with respect to the Cost price

6. There were some red balls and blue and green balls what percent of probability of selecting 6 balls out of which we have 2 balls of the same color.

7. some 6 digit number will be given with some digits missing and the full number will be divided by some other number and we have to find out the digits. I have got some 6 digit number 1s38s9(i dont know the exact number its just a model) and that number is divided by 36 find which number will be come in the place of s.

There were 3 rounds.. Aptitude,GD,HR/Technical.
There were 15 qustions to b completed in 20 mins. No multiple choice, no - ve marking. some of the questions r as follows..
1. A monkey wants to climb 20ft tall tree. in 1 hr it climbs 3 ft and slips back 2 ft. In how many hours will it be able to climb th tree?(Ans.19).
2. A man took 5000 rs as loan for 10 years. for first 3 yrs he has to pay 3 %,next 2yrs 3.5%, for rest 4 % as SI. What amount is he supoosed to give back at the completion of 10 years?
3. there are two clocks? one becomes late by 2 mins every hour, the other becomes 1 min fast every hour. After exactly how many hours will they be 1 hour difeerent?(Ans.20 hours)
4. A cow grazes a square field of side 12m. it is tied to a corner with a string of length 7 m. How much area will it be able to graze? (Ans: (pi*R*R)/4::: R=7)
5. a club has 4 couples as members.Form a group of 3 members such that no two couple members be on that group?

i wrote the igate xm on 21 nov 06 frm shreds ,cochin,kerala.

the test consisted of 15 aptitude questions to be solved in 30 mins.

3-4 questions were simple.others were little hard.

cutoff was high.they shortlisted 98 frm 800 for gd...

iGATE paper conducted on 18th November,2006 in Walkin. 2 sets were there in each batch white and yellow. White one easier than yellow. 15 questions in 30 mins. I got white and questions are:-



1. It was based on hour and minute hand. If the diff. between hour and minute hand is 6 minute then after how much time the diff. will be 7 min. It was quite tricky.
2. If 6 weights and one pan is given then what are the weights exactly to measure 1-364 candies.
3. Divide 170 in 3 parts such a way that first part is 10 more than second part.
4. There is a 4 digit no. in which 3rd digit is twice of first one. Second digit is the sum of first and third. Fourth digit is twice of third. What is the no.?
5. A circle is touched by 34 tangents then what is the total no. of unclosed regions?
6. A room having floor dimension of 48 feet by 24 feet has cross diagonal length of 54 feet. What is the height of the room?
7. One year ago pandit was 3 times older than a girl and after one year he is 2 times older than the girl. What is the age of pandit after 5 years.
8. A brick weighs 4kg. How many bricks will be formed by reducing its dimension to one-fourth?
9. In a family every child have 3 brother and 3 sister, then how many children are all there?
10. A dog says that there are 2 dogs in front of him, other dog says that there 2 dogs behind him. How many dogs are all there?
11. In a telephone exchange if area code is of three digits, then how area codes are possible for that exchange from a-z alphabets only?
12. If a girl has 10z more chocolates then she will have 5y+1 times chocolates than she originally had. Find the no. of chocolates the girl had originally in terms of y and z.

IGATE PAPER ON 21st NOVEMBER AT COCHIN

Hi friends
Finally iam very glad to inform u all that iam placed in iGate.I appeared for the iGate exam on 21st nov at cochin.
Paper was not that tough.There were 15 questions to be solved in 30min.
No rough sheet was provided.Also no negative marking, but no options were given.that is u have to solve the questions and write the answer, no guess work possible.Cut off was 9 or 10 i think.They selectd very few for the second round.Outof 1,700 they selected only 170 for GD(2nd round).They made group of 10/11 for GD, and selected approximately 60 students for third/technical round.Final round ws HR..Finally they selected only 30.
But for apti prepare general topics like Avg,profitloss, time asd distance,time and work,si,ci,partnership, clocks, calender,probability,series,pipes and cisterns ,reasoing,number,hcf,lcm,permutaion and combinations.
Either refer R.S Agarwal or Pearson guide By Dinesh Khattar is more than enough.
Questions were not that tough but point was to save time.
Some questions i remember
1) one man sold two items at 20% loss and 20%profit.Net % loss/gain?
Ans In such cases always loss (20/10)^2= 4%loss.
2) series question :
I think no1 solved it

Find the next two numbers.
3) Si questions was there,Given:principal=480,Rate=3.5%, Time=2 month 15 days
Find SI? =( 480*3.5*(5/2*12))/100
i.e take 2month 15 days as 2.5 month and conert into year and solve.
4) GHITZ is ....i dont remeber exactly but i remeber the concept
They replaced last with first, second last with sec,What i mean is A - Z
B- Y
c- x and so on.
5) 1/10 is how much of 3/4?
Ans (1/10)/(3/4)
6) 1/6 boys and 1/3 Girls ?What is ratio if children?
Ans 1/2 ie 1/6+1/3=1/2 = 50%
7) I n how much time 100km will be covered if a girl travels at 10km/hr and halts for 10min every 15km
Ans)100/10=10
10+(10*6)=11hrs
8) Probality of sundays in an ordinary year?
Ans)2/7
9) on eman walked 1/4,3 1/4,7 1/4,9 1/4 and other man walked 2/4,2 1/4, 2 2/3,3 1/4 kms.

some more questions were there , ut icannot recall them, they were not that easy, but if u pracice pearson guide/R.S.Aggarwal well thenu can solve it.
Next Round Was GD
Made group of 10/11.In some they selected 4 members.But in many they selected only 1or 2 per group. In min they seleced only two including me. Topic was simple.they wanted every1 to talk.Also they made every1 to talk.So the topics were simple.But always allow others to speak.U should speak well and up to the point,but at the same time u should allow others to speak.Donot make it a fish market.APart from communication they also want to check that whether u can work in team or not?

2) Pepsi should be banned or not?
3) mobiles vs landlines
4) house wife vs working
5) inda,s poor performances in cricket
Next was techncial

1. Asked baisc things, quite lengthy
2. ASked question on DBMS,networing,

5. Diff b/w c++and java.
6. Some basic questions on core java.
7. Also told to write one program *

General - other CBIT,Hyderabad - 1 December 2006 Paper - 7

IGATE PAPER ON 01st DECEMBER AT HYDERABAD

Hi friends.I am vamsee doing my B.tech final ECE from Aurora,s engineering college. I got selected for iGATE global on 1st dec thru campus drive held at cbit........

I wanna give u some suggestions...........1st round was a written test .......they gave 15 questions to be answered in 30 mins with no multiple choice .........we need to solve the question and write the answer and no negative marking....... some questions which they gave are lengthy .don,t panic by seeing them .they are very easy to solve......cut off was about 11-12 for 15 i guess......

73 people got selected for GD round from about 600 students who appeared for the written test.

Next coming to GD......each group had 10 members. So total of 7 groups in GD...............my my topic was on dress code( shud there be a dress code at college level?) and one more topic I remember for the other group was on reservations.....these are the topics I remember...... from each group they selected around 5 members.

So around 35 students shortlisted for personal interview (includes technical and HR separately).........

Next coming to technical round........... i am from ECE group.so i,ll tell u wat the interviewer asked me.......learn c and data stuctures well (be prepared to write a program, bcoz the interviewer asked me to write a program without a single syntax or logical error so be careful..),then micro processors (8085,8086),then go thru some basics of communication and digital electronics(if u are a ECE student).......... if u mention anything about u,r paper presentations and mini projects in u,r resume be ready to explain them clearly.....bcoz he asked me about the papers which i presented in depth and he asked me to explain my mini projects ........if u r done wid all these u r going to clear technical round for sure.....

Next coming to HR round........1st the basic question.... tell me abt u,rself...next u,r strengths and weaknesses.......u,r hobbies....etc,..... wat ever u say, say it confidently and try to be honest....its not a big deal clearing hr round.....but be careful wid tech round....ok ..............wat ever u speak be loud and clear in gd and personal interview..........try to speak positively ......avoid grammar mistakes while u r speaking and be confident.....don,t worry its not dat hard.....u can clear them easily....all the best prepare well and do well...........

So finally 20 students got selected for iGATE out of around 600 students who attended the campus drive...

2. Technical Interview : Depends upon the H.R panel members.As i am a ECE student questions were from COMPUTER NETWORKS, DATA STRUCTURES & some C questions.My interview hardly went on for 10 minutes. But, sorry i dont know about the other department, i heard that they are drilling more and more for CSE, IT,MCA.If you are strong enough in your basics then you can easily clear technical.

3. HR : Once you clear the technical then you are through your dream company iGATE .Listen the PPT wel , because they ask questions from that also.
Here they mainly check ur confidence level, communication, how fast you grasp and how fast ur mind works...

FINAL SHORTLISTED CANDIDATES : 11

PACKAGE :

2.5 lacs per annum and the training will be in B,glore.

I attended many companies and finally god made my career in iGATE. Guys / Gals if you loose dis company also den dont get dejected and main thing is dont loose your hope & confidence.God is having something big for you. Try Try untill you succeed.

Hi friends Here goes my experience in I-Gate Solutions!

First was aptitude test. 15 questions. 30 minutes.. No choices.. No working sheets also! Find answer on ur own and write it down.. No -ve marking!
Questions: All quesion are easy if u have read R S AGGARWAL.

some quesitions: (numerical figures not correct)
--> if traveleld faster by 30kmph he would have reached 3 minuets earlier.. if travveled 30 lmph slower he will reach 3 minutes later.. so whts the original speed?
--->sea:bank then ____:coast (ans OCEAN)
--> a question on mixtures. water and milk in some ratio.. total price is given.. wht is the amount of milk....
--->ratio of 1t class and 2nd class ticket is 1:4.. no of tickets sold in the ratio 4:1. total amount collected is given.. fine colection from first clas alone
--->some coding related question.. ABC HAKDH IAS is denoted as JIADJ ADH AH 9some thign like tht) simple ones!
-->number series.. x/5, x/4 x/3 x/2 x/1 was the series..
cut off was 8 i think..
Took 28 from total of around 450 people.

Next was interviews
1)tech interview: most students said a lot of tech question were asked.. from c,cpp,dbms,os, data structures, sorting algortithms.

Simple Rule: BE Confident in wht u say!! else they ask us more details..
Interviewer asked me which all sorting algorithm i know."i said quick bubblle insertion slection"
then asked complexity of each.. thts all
Some were asked linked lists.. (no program was asked.. just explain concepts)
then referential integrity,foreign keys, types of sql quires (seletc, delet etc) etc etc

for me tech was little only! my resume said i have good interests in stock markets. so he asked a lot about that! i answered all of them and then asked 4-5 tech questions.. and about MINI PROJECT was aked..

Then interviewer will ask about ur marks in each sem.. if there is any drop,, he asks why..
for me its was a drop from 92 in 10th to 82% in 12th to 69% in betch! he asked me why.. just admitted i didnt study well ..and said i will score better in coming semester and will mak aggragate to 73%.. he asked 3-4 times ARE U CONFIDENT? ( like in KBC -BIG B ;) ) i said yeas! confident! sure!!
he said" if u dont make 73. i wont take u to igate!1 =)) )
then asked me why i want to join i gate..
then asked where u see ur self after 5 years.
then give me HR form.. and feedback also was given on spot! (my accent was week.. he told to improbve it..)

then HR..
HR interviewer hd nothing new to ask me . she just repeated wht was asked in tech!!
why igate?? dream achievement? tell us about parenst etc etc
at last "are u wiling to sign a bond for 2 years."
i didnt accept.. still they took me in!

All question are easy if u have read R S AGARWAL, some topics are Time and Distance, Probability, Problems on numbers, Average, Age, Profit and Loss and some other topics in RS Agarwal... That is enough...
3-4 questions were very simple. Others were little hard. Cutoff was high, it was around 10. They short listed 88 from 1000… for the next round...

HR is like formality but dont take it easy bcoz some stdnt eliminate in this round also.

Hey Friends This is Nakul here..i,m frm Manav Rachna College of Engineering,Faridabad..recently there ws a joint campus drive at Chikara College,Chandigarh..I-Gate hd come for campus placements..numerous colleges were invited...lemme assure you they cleard 178 students in apti..90 odd in Tech and 60 (i think) in HR....GD WS CANCELLED..so dont lose hope.

FIRST ROUND

well we had 15 qstns to b completed within 30 mins..sounds scary bt TOTALLY NOT..js keep ur cool..remember the basic formulaes and try to attempt ATEAST 8-9 correctly..purely quant..no english..no reasoning..

2) Speed distance time

3) probability

4) work men

5) profit loss

6) ratio proportion

7) percentage(tricky)

8) simple interest



remember..8-9 correct!!!!



SECOND ROUND

awrite..GD ws cancelled so it ws only Tech and HR...tech ws diffrnt fo every1..some were askd jus basics. my technical included qstns on RDBMS,VC++..my summer training project plus some basic HR qstns..i ws asked to wait outside and thn one person came and escorted me to a new room..i hd clrd the tech.



THIRD ROUND

This ws HR..majority of candidates were askd jus basic qstns like describe urself,hobbies!!bt in my case there were puzzles,abt the company,awareness qstns(3 uses of pen othr thn writing!!!duh!!)plus the basic HR qstns..and finally next aftrnun results wre declared and I WS SELECTED..



Bt lemme assure u getting into an IT company isn’t difficult at all..jus believe in urself and plz plz don’t miss ny opportunity..
