2) Then General Engineering subjects (control systems, electronics circuits....)

hi frends .. this is balu.. i am studying in Md. Sathak AJ collge of Engg final yr cse . we got the oppurtunity to attend the selection process in L&T Infotech in manapakkam chennai along with us Arupadai veedu collge also came

3.technical(later cancelled)

first they asked us to assemble in a auditorium. then they gave 3 sets of question papers Yelloe, pink and white .. i got white
there 3 sections
quant
reasoning
verbal
90 question in 90 mins, there is sectional cut off.. so dont stick on to section itself u can allot time like this( quant 40 mins,verbal 30 min, reasoning 20 mins) initially they dont give rough sheets and advised us to write verbal
CAREFULL !! this is to check ur stabilty .. first do quant.. else there will be no time to it in last then do verbal and last come to reasoning
quant consist of questions like percentage boats profit loss pipes train (as in RS AGARWL)
verbal is damn easy
2 synonyms ( malady , decapitate)
5 replace the sentense by word
reading comprehension( some tsunami passage )
find the error in sentece( which part or no error)
which sentece can be replaced for the underlined phrase

GROUP DISCUSSION
we 10 were askd to go to one conference hall.. there we r asked to wait for few mins
Advice: Before the mentor comes know each other .. so that u will talk freely with them
be bold.. but dont be arrogant and very dominant but slight dominance can be showed if u r really a dominant person never keep ur mouth shut

they gave one minute to think they asked to have a paper and pencil.. two of dont have.. so i took oppurtunity to show my leader ship quality by asking one to giv half of his paper to the next down then one min later mentor asked to start
i started with history wy this TNPCEE came and wats advantage .. wy abolished.. i gave oppurtunty to others to talk.. this is more important
at last mentor asked to give each one a conclusion( note its not summing up) as i am sitting in7th position remaing 6 spoke by starting I SuPPORT
but i started by thankig others and mentor to have a oppurtunity to talk ang gain knowledge then gave my conclusion
OUT OF TEN ONLY FIVE SELECTED TO NEXT ROUND ALL THREE OF OUR COLLGE ARE SELETED TO NEXT RND
then they gave lunch for all ten. then we 5 are waiting for technical but taht hr came and gave a form which is too tedious to fill and told that ther i s only final rnd then verification is done( justed asked my name and some detailes u filled) then we waited for half an hour then HR called us and asked us to wait one interviw room but to ur gratest luck the VICE PRESIDENT of the company came he just asked wat is unique in us ( a modifed for of tell abt ur self) then he told us that they are not paying us for fun.. lot of toughness is there .. are u ready.. we all said yes.. then he said ok .. my HR will come nw
wat we thought yet another rnd will be ther and we astyed in the room for 45 min. then that HR came and asked us to wait one hall, after 50 mins, one lady came with five cover .. yes it is offer leter forr all 5 .We are tottally luck i here thank GOD .i than our placement sir( mr .p Athiyaman)

Hi friends I am Sohan from SFIT in EXTC branch .L&T came for campus placements in our college on 3rd july .
The placement procedure was something like this

4.Profile Interview
Eligibility was 55% with no live KT
Presentation:
Only one person came to give the presentation.Because of rain may be or due to some other reason his colleagues did not join him even after the presentation and then only he conducted the entire process of selection right till the end.He was really a genius.Same thing may not happen in your case.Pay attention to the presentation. Questions will definitely be asked in the interview about the company.Gather information about the company in the presentation itself.
Aptitude
There were three sections
Quantitative
Logical reasoning
Verbal
There are three test booklets named A, B , C with a serial no.Everyone gets a different test book.Difficulty level is the same in all.They completely ensure there is no cheating.
Test is for 90 minutes and overall 90 questions 30 quant,30 reasoning,30 verbal. No negative marking so try to attempt all 90 questions. Sectional cut-off is there or not, is not quite clear, they did not tell us anything.But don,t take a risk,attempt all questions equally from all sections.
Quantitive:
This was very simple.Just study R.S Aggarwal Quantitative aptitude book.Topics like
Numbers(arithmatic progression,geometric progression formulae like Tn and Sn)

Problems on Ages

Verbal:
Very easy section hence attempt it first.Questions like
Synonyms
Fill in the blanks with appropriate word
A sentence is given with some words in bold.you have to replace it with a best match from the options

Then he only suggested topics like IS CHINESE GROWTH A THREAT TO INDIA,or topic which we had a discussion on like LIFE AFTER DEATH. another group had a discussion on GLOBAL WARMING.
Just be confident. What you speak is irrelevant. He is just checking your confidence and the manner in which you speak. You have to be very good in your communication. Talk anything but talk. Don,t miss any opportunity to make your point. He may intervene in between to give everybody a chance to air their views. He will expect one person to initiate, and then ask many people to summarize. Most of us completely deviated from the topic but whatever we spoke was with confidence.
Profile Interview:
Before giving the interview you will have to fill a form which is just like your resume
You have to mention your scholastic, extra curricular achievements ,strengths and weaknesses and so on.Remember what you are writing on the form because questions will definitely be asked on it.

10th 55%
12th 55%
UG 55% (you should not keep more than 4 back lock || if you wrote 1 subject more then 3 time I is also considered )
Over all process
1. Aptitude ( 30 Q quant + 30 Q reasoning + 30 Q verbal)
2. GD
3. HR interview
· In aptitude test they will give 3 set of question paper A B C book lets with different color Blue white yellow I think so… I got yellow booklet. Each book let have different question so nothing cant be done..
· Then they will give OMR sheet to fill the answer use pencil to fill(Be safe )
· 2 rough sheet will be given ( they wont see that and all)
· If you are strong in any of the three parts do it first eg: I am strong in reasoning I do that first….
· Time management is very important
· The question paper is some what easy for me
· In verbal do the comprehension first all direct question….easy to answer
If you want to clear the Aptitude you want to satisfy both section cut off and over all cut off... in our test they had told that it’s around 60 mark (I AM NOT SURE)

So there where more than 450 students attended finally 105 was cleared the first round
Group discussion
- Before going to call they will split the student in to groups (15 in each group) Total 105 comes- 7 groups
- I was in 5th group
- My topic is… is education value decreasing due the opening of private colleges...
- 2 min is given for our preparation so you can gather points and make it note
- At last every one will given chance for conclusion make you of it
- Don’t forget to take notes
Let’s take abt my experience
We are called for GD around 2 30 PM…I was not taken any good lunch…They provide ID card my number is 13…Topic given……2 min over…Our GD person asks us to start...That’s all our GD room become fish market...
More then 12 among us started at the same moment…I get tensed...A guy from KSR had initiated…
I had waited for 6 to start in GD because my lucky no is 6
5 finished… I tried to start next... I can’t...6 gone 7th gone 8th gone……… 12th gone and at the last 13th also gone…
I was very tensed…. Then I raised my voice…. every one stopped…I spoke for 30 to 40 seconds... That’s all
Then I tried to contribute some more point in between the discussion… but I can’t
15 min over… sir asked to stop… (At the moment I think I am the one of the person who is going to eliminate)
Then comes conclusion part. Sir asked to conclude the section... He gave the chance to every one and asked then to conclude...
Again the Number played in my life….
He asked 1st person and then 2nd person then came to 14th and 15th person... Then he again switches over to 3rd person to 12th person…
The remaining one number is 13 my num... It’s my turn...
I came forward to conclude… At the time a shock came… Sir asked us to leave the room…. A great shock came to me…
I was totals upset with GD...(I confirmed that I was eliminated)
But my friends cooled me and we were waiting for GD result…
In 5th batch totally 7 was short listed... Again shocking news…. My name is also there…In that moment I was speech less…
In GD don’t consider the others… Do your job… Please give the Valuable point… it is more than enough
Remember the VALUABLE POINT IS VERY VERY IMPORTANT…
After GD out of 105 students 44 is short listed for HR interview…( 61 is eliminated )
They gave L & T Application form to fill
Remember that your application form is your resume...
Please fill it carefully. (IMPORTANT)
After filling the application form…
Mark verification will be done…
So have a Xerox copy of the all mark sheet (MUST)…
After verification we are asked to come tomorrow at 8.30 AM
Again a group division 44 students are divided into 4 groups 11 in each….
A single and senior HR form L & T came...
Each group is called for HR… so at the same time 11 students is interview’d by single HR person... So you can see what the other is speaking with HR…
Be cool in HR because all our friends are with us…
Here my ID number is 8
Only simple question are asked with some basic technical question
Intro your self…
Tell abt your native
Tell abr your college
Tell abt your Father
Hobbies…. Very very simple question
Some basic question what is meant my OS? ( they will not ask more deeper )
(Have a clear cut idea about your project * very important)
For me He asked
Tell abt your Father... Answer boldly for this question… you can impress him…
Question on my 10th Math mark (I scored very low) I answered it... He satisfied with my answer...
Question on my Project – I told over view
Totally my Hr interviews were about 3 to 4 min… ( and abt 30 min for all 11)
After all 11 are completed he asked to leave us..
We were waiting for the final result…After 2 hours around 4.30 PM the result wads announced. Totally 30 out of 44 is short listed finally…out of that 7 from our college
I was one among them… its too comedy is it so….??????Any way at the last I made it…

APTITUDE ROUND:
* THERE ARE 3 QUESTION BOOKLETS (A,B,C).

* TIME LIMIT IS 90 QUES IN 90 MIN.

Nearly from about 2000 candidates... 200 cleared the aptitute- and only 95 cleard GD round. seeing this figure... you would obviously get tensed.. but to tell you the truth its very easy to clear the GD round.. jus some tips from my side..
* Be clear in whatever you speak.
* Do not get over excited in this round.
* Give chance for the other candidates also to speak out.
* You should be mentally as well as physically present.
* Be aware of the HR... he keeps an eye on each one,s behaviour.
* Your body language is very important.
* And overall your CONFIDENCE level.
After clearing the GD round candidates were given a form to fill up... it is actually a form of your resume.We were asked to come the next day for the HR round.. with all the necessary documents.
FINAL STAGE: HR
In this round nearly 40-50 candidates were selected and i was one of them!!!
Ours was a group HR. We were called in as a group.. around 15 candidates together.We were made to sit in a round table with a single HR to interview us.He had all the details of each and every candidate starting from the candidates aptitute answer sheet to his/her present exam mark sheet.
He interviewed us one by one . His questions were based on whatever DETAILS we have mentioned in the form given to us.. He never went too technical.... just a gist of it.Some of the questions posed to my group of candidates are
* what are your hobbies??
* Give me a brief view of your project/ pp
* what post do you wish to opt for after 2 years... why??
TIPS:
* Answer to the point.
* Dont be tensed while answering the questions.
* Be polite enough when the HR corrects you when you are wrong.
* Be confident in your answers.
* your body language also counts.
The results were announced immediately. Only 3 candidates were eliminated from my batch. jus be strong in your communication skills... rest all is upto the HR.
SO be cool , relaxed, and ofcourse confident enough to face the questions.DON WORRY you will ROCK

This section is time consuming,so keep time management.First work out Arithmetic Reasoning.

· Correct the Sentence.

· Ques from long passage(its very easy).
Note: There is sectional cutoff..I think its 22 out of 30..Totally app. 300 attended only abt 70 cleared aptitude..
GD:
This is also major elimination round.My GD topic was “Is IT development Brain Drain or Brain gain”.I initiated the topic as brain drain bt all opposed me,bt I was confident & made good points.Just be confident and speak audibly.
Other GD topics were
Capitive Punishment.
Reservation.etc
Out of 70 only 37 cleared GD.
Note: just be confident & keep good eye contact.Make ur points clear & audible.
Verification round:

This is also major elimination round.My GD topic was “Is IT development Brain Drain or Brain gain”.I initiated the topic as brain drain bt all opposed me,bt I was confident & made good points.Just be confident and speak audibly.
Other GD topics were
Capitive Punishment.
Reservation.etc
Out of 70 only 37 cleared GD.
Note: just be confident & keep good eye contact.Make ur points clear & audible.

hi frns........ a total11out of around 1200 were selected........in l&T infotech every round is elimination one....out of 1200 around 130 guys were cleared written and after written ppt was given then 130 candidates were divided into 3 batches and extempo was held..i choose global warming as my topic...u should be careful in extempo u can choose any topic.it should not be technical r the recent movie i watched.......it is better if u give conclusion also...............then around 70 guys were clered in extempo and only 20 guys cleared tr and11 guys got placed and iam happy bcoz iam 1 among them............

L&T IFOTECH RECRUITMENT PROCESS HELD AT,
Hi friends! I am going to share my experiences with you…but before this read the lines given below…
“ Let not the horizon be your limit,

I am Dimple Chandra , pursuing B.Tech in Biotechnology from AMITY LUCKNOW CAMPUS and now one of the members of L&T family , which is really like an honour for me. I will be joining L&T in 2008.
Now, let me tell you the details of the recruitment process of L&T , which was faced by us at SRMCEM,
Most of the engineering colleges of the city were invited there, and the process started at 10.00 am. A type of oral presentation was given to us , in which we were told about the company’s profile.
After this question papers along with the OMR answer sheets was provided to us. Three sets of question papers were distributed to the students. The written exam was thus started at 12 o’clock sharp and was over at 1.30pm. Around 600 students appeared, and out of those 110 got selected and I was one of them.
Coming to the details of the written test –
- Written Exam –
There were 90 questions in the paper ,and the time allotted was 90 minutes. The paper was divided into 3 sections - Quantitative aptitude, Logical Reasoning and English. There were 30 questions in each section.
i.) Quantitative Aptitude – The questions were easy, only thing was the time management . For this, one must be thorough with the R.S. Agarwal’s quati apti book which is easily available in the market. The topics covered were-
· Ratio & Proportion
· Time , Distance& Work
· Average & simple interest
· Probability & matrices
· Percentage
· Profit & Loss
· Pipe & Cisterns
ii ) Logical Reasoning – You can refer R.S.Agarwal’s verbal-nonverbal book for this. It consisted of questions like-
· Puzzles
· Pattern Matching
· Syllogism, Sequence findings.
iii ) English - This section was made up of the following questions
· Synonyms, antonyms
· Phrases
· Prepositions
· Vocabulary
· Unseen Passages ( around 5-6 )
Again for this, the thing which was to be kept in the mind was the time management. After declaring the results, the selected students were asked to come on the next day at 8am sharp for the further proceedings.
2. Interview-
Friends it was my first interview and so I was thinking that what is going to happen next. But Thank God, everything went in the right direction. !!
Before the interview was started a form was given to us in which we have to mention our personal details along with our qualifications. That form was submitted along with our resume and then we were divided into 4 groups and were send to 4 different panels respectively.
Being a Biotech student I was a bit nervous as it was an IT co. but with the God’s grace and ofcorse the blessings of my parents , I was able to clear that with full confidence.
I faced only 1 Interview which was the combination of both (Technical + H.R).
One thing I want to tell you that I was fortunate enough in having such a dynamic and friendly interviewer. Sir was very nice and friendly too. He was so cool and calm that I didn’t feel as if I am giving an interview. Again I want to Thank God for this!

I am Nishith Kumar Nayak. L&T Infotech has come to college of engg. Bhubaneswar on 5th sep for a campus drive.Our college Purushottam institute of engg & technology,rourkela was invited in that off campus drive.
The selection procedure was divided in three consecutive processes.

3.Profile interview
The written paper has three sets pink,yellow and in white colours.mine was a yellow B set.it consists of three sections.
a).Aptitude-30 ques.30 mins
b).Reasoning-30ques.30 mins
c).English-30ques.30 mins
There was no negative marking.Aptitude and reasoning papers were quite easy.Aptitude papers consists of the following topics.
Number system,determinants,pipes and cisterns,trains,time and speed,data analysis(graph),probablity,permutations,combinations,time and work etc.
questoins were pretty easy.dont get nervous my friends.
In reasoning section blood relation,puzzle test,analytical reasoning,logic,etc.
R.s. agarwal is more than enough.
In english there was antonym,synonym,comprehensive passage etc.a little bit of english knowledge is more than sufficient.
Afterwards at about 11.30pm at night wriiten results r out.instantly our names were called out for gd.mine was the 30th group.my topic was "beauty contest".3 of us have been selected out of 13 people.othre topic were
1.Should women be treated at par with men.
2.Reservation
3.Indian are able to work in group or not.etc.
Then about 1.00am we were selected and profile form was given to us.
On the 2nd day we reported at 9.30 am in the morning.we filled out the profile form and submit it .plz do remember that fill out the form carefully as they r asking all the questions in interview from ur profile form.then they verified our all academic certificates and our complete profile.then they presented ppt at about 2.00pm after the lunch.
The next day we reported for interview early in the morning at about 6.30 in the morning.l n t infotech joint general manager took our interview.it was a profile group interview.I m in the 3rd group i entered the interview hall at about, 8 o,clock.the hr person was very much friendly and was quite comfortable for us.i was the 2nd candidate in my group for interview.
My interview process as follows:
Hr:So ur name is nishith....hmm.What does it mean and how do u represent ur name?
Me:I answered Nishith means night.I m tall "dark" and handsome thats Why I m nishith.
Hr:checked my profile and asked ur brother is working in oracle and asked about his job profile,designation and qualifications.
Me: I answered.
Hr:So u have been awarded as child scientist in class 10th for ur project in national childrens science congress so explain about ur projects and ur contribution.
Me:I explained it very nicely becoz i myself represented my team in national level and completed the project almost singlehandedly.
Hr:So now u tell me ur hobbies?
Me:Sir, my hobbies are net surfing,listening music and above all playing musical instruments.
Hr: So impressive, u can play instruments,what r those?
Me: Sir i can play tabla, bongo,trango,dholok etc
Hr: So what will be 7th semester project brief us about it?
Me: i described it easily
Hr: U read some oter books otherthan curricular books or not?
Me. yes sir i do read novels,newspapers, automobiles magazines etc.
Hr:So which book u read in hte last one year?
Me: I read chetan bhagat,s five point someone,one night at the call cenrer,danbrown,s da vinci code,tushar raheja,s anything for u mam

Then he took other candidate,s interview.we all were in the interview room for 1.5 hrs.
then we left the room.
After 2hrs at about 1.30pm results were declared and by god,s grace my name was there in the list.6 people were selected from our college out of all 6 appeared for interview.it was like a dream come true for me..after lunch they handed over our offer letter.

GD& Extempory
Our topic is "Today is celebrity is reall role Model". We are
I have starte GD by defining Celebrity , Role Model & there relation forward by eample of sharukh of Pepsi.
My GD was converted into good contraversy everyone is shouting.I interrupt and said "This is GD Every one must keep point one by one so we all must keep our points politely and i directed one to start." But It again converted into a War. Madam interupys our discussion & call of the GD.
Madam then conduct our Extempor.The topic was "Why youth is coming to IT because of career gowth or Monetry"
In the group of 10 i was the second last to speak and as all other speak to all theoritical points i speak on practical issue .
Finally out of 10 , six were selected and i was the one.
Form FILLING
Those who selected in Gd are provided with a 4page form. We have to fill it very clearly and honestly.(Strength,area of improvment,career objective,why L&t,Achivements, Personal details.,Sotware Skills.) They Will take Hr from this form.
TIP.: Note down the points on a paper and pratice all Possible HR question of your Enteries.

My interview is to be Hr but.........it was technical 2 me.Technical was from our field.
Finally after the L&T,s PPT the resul was declared with call letters,And I get selected.
Some POINTS
i) Spare equal time to all three section ,there will be sectional cut-off.
ii) Be calm befor exam.
iii) If it is possible then start Gd with definig the the topic.
iv) Dosen,t directly agree or disagree with the topic.
v) Give practical & real life situation facts& example
vi) Be calm before Interview.

Sometime they may ask for extempo or presentation of 1 minute.but in our case it was totally gd.
in my panel there were 15 students and 13 got selected,after that they gave us a 4 pages form to fill.Friends at the time of filling the form it should not contradict with ur resume like objective,strength,weakness. because keep in mind that they will ask questions from that form only. ok

If the company is coming in a very short notice,then please do not try to do all the sums from the book..Do only the sums that are given at the starting of every chapters.

Pie Chart:
A set of 4-5 questions were asked on a single pie chart...simple but with a bit lengthy calculation.Do this last.Mine was like...Mr.Agarwal has an income of 70000/- savings 30000...a pie chart given depicting diff. sectors of expenditure....and then there were questions.
Sets:
Very very simple....Draw a set and then do....simple subtraction thats all....50 learn mathematics 60 learn english...calculate how many learn both...
Simple Interest:
Very simple....Do R.S Agarwal.
Total questions on Quants was 30...The main idea to crack this is to do the easy ones first.If there are 5-6 sums in the begining which cannot be solved then do the remaining.Do not waste time.Remember there is sectional Cutt-offs.
LOGICAL REASONING:
This section was full of syllogism...Pepare well.I did not study from any book,but as it is mentioned in the papers it would be helpful if you do the prep from R.S Agarwal,s Verbal & Non Verbal Resoning.People taking tutions for CAT..can prepare this from their respective study materials.
IMPORTANT:
Please do this section at the last.Devote 40 mins for this section.And most importantly:before starting of the section check whether the easy questions are at last or at the begining....if the easy questions are at the last start solving from the last..otherwise vice-versa.
Very easy...anyone can crack.Have confidence...
there were words jumbled up...u needed to sort the letters to find a new words.
Sets from which u have to find out certain parameters...doctors, artisans,writers.
(NO SPECIAL PREP IS NEEDED...BUT YES SOME TIME IS NEEDED FOR LOGICALLY SOLVING IT..PRESENCE PF MIND IS THE MUST).
ENGLISH:
THE MOST EASY SECTION...THE LAST QUESTION CONTAINED A COMPREHENSION ON OCEANS AND WAVES.QUESTIONS, ANSWERS WERE DIRECTLY MENTIONED IN THE PASSAGE.
SORTING SENTENCES SUCH THAT A COHERENT SENTENCES ARE FORMED.VERY SIMPLE.
correct the gramatical errors...which part of the sentence has gramatical errors..etc.etc......PLEASE DON,T WASTE TIME PREPARING THIS SECTION IF YOU ARE THOROUGH WITH ENGLISH.TRY AND COMPLETE THIS SECTION IN 20 MINS.
GROUP DISCUSSION:
L&T PERSONNELS WILL ASK the group TO CHOOSE A TOPIC.CHOOSE AN EASY TOPIC AND SPEAK.IF U DONOT SPEAK YOU WILL BE OUT.PLEASE DO SPEAK OUT.RELEVANT OR IRRELEVANT.THEY WILL ALSO ASK TO SUMMARIZE OPINIONS INDIVIDUALLY.BE BOLD...BE SMART,AND YOU WILL CRACK THIS TOO.

A set of 4-5 questions were asked on a single pie chart...simple but with a bit lengthy calculation.Do this last.Mine was like...Mr.Agarwal has an income of 70000/- savings 30000...a pie chart given depicting diff. sectors of expenditure....and then there were questions.
Sets:
Very very simple....Draw a set and then do....simple subtraction thats all....50 learn mathematics 60 learn english...calculate how many learn both...
Simple Interest:
Very simple....Do R.S Agarwal.
Total questions on Quants was 30...The main idea to crack this is to do the easy ones first.If there are 5-6 sums in the begining which cannot be solved then do the remaining.Do not waste time.Remember there is sectional Cutt-offs.
LOGICAL REASONING:
This section was full of syllogism...Pepare well.I did not study from any book,but as it is mentioned in the papers it would be helpful if you do the prep from R.S Agarwal,s Verbal & Non Verbal Resoning.People taking tutions for CAT..can prepare this from their respective study materials.
IMPORTANT:
Please do this section at the last.Devote 40 mins for this section.And most importantly:before starting of the section check whether the easy questions are at last or at the begining....if the easy questions are at the last start solving from the last..otherwise vice-versa.
Very easy...anyone can crack.Have confidence...
there were words jumbled up...u needed to sort the letters to find a new words.
Sets from which u have to find out certain parameters...doctors, artisans,writers.
(NO SPECIAL PREP IS NEEDED...BUT YES SOME TIME IS NEEDED FOR LOGICALLY SOLVING IT..PRESENCE PF MIND IS THE MUST).
ENGLISH:
THE MOST EASY SECTION...THE LAST QUESTION CONTAINED A COMPREHENSION ON OCEANS AND WAVES.QUESTIONS, ANSWERS WERE DIRECTLY MENTIONED IN THE PASSAGE.
SORTING SENTENCES SUCH THAT A COHERENT SENTENCES ARE FORMED.VERY SIMPLE.
correct the gramatical errors...which part of the sentence has gramatical errors..etc.etc......PLEASE DON,T WASTE TIME PREPARING THIS SECTION IF YOU ARE THOROUGH WITH ENGLISH.TRY AND COMPLETE THIS SECTION IN 20 MINS.
